While Managers are the top earning professions, women can earn more than men in those roles in Samoa, Marshall Islands, Tonga and the Cook Islands.
Hourly earnings across Pacific Island nations reveal more than just economic figures - they reflect deep-rooted disparities between men and women, between formal and informal sectors, and between islands with more robust infrastructure and those still developing. While some countries show signs of wage parity, others highlight persistent gender gaps that deserve attention. This story is a starting point for exploring not only how much people earn, but who earns - and what that says about opportunity, equality, and progress in the region.
